Just watched the DVD of Crazy/Beautiful starring Kirsten Dunst and Jay Hernandez.
The plot outline: “At Pacific Palisades High, a poor Latino [Hernandez] falls hard for a troubled girl [Dunst] from the affluent neighborhood.”
I didn’t expect much. I rented this film because..
…Kirsten Dunst is a babe.
But I actually ended up enjoying the film for its own sake! 😀 I’m disappointed IMDB readers only give it an average rating of 6.6; I was expecting it to be at least in the sevens; my personal rating for this film is an 8 out of 10.
Because the film describes high-schoolers, I was expecting trash like this.
Not at all. The characters in this movie — even the secondary ones — seem realistic, the protagonists have a chemistry that feels very genuine, and the story is well told.
I’ll buy it if I see it in the previously-viewed bin at the video store. An unexpectedly good film. Go rent it.
