Seeing as it could be the last time the Stanley Cup finals come by these parts for a long time, Catherine, Cam, Melissa, Darren and I all jumped in the Altima and drove up to St. Pete Times Forum to watch all the festivities go down outside the hockey arena (there were some tickets left — for $400 a pop!!). They had a TV screen set up outside projecting the game onto a wall of the parking garage. Here’s what it looked like:
Can you see what’s written in the last picture?
Lots of fun heckling/getting heckled by the crowd (we were all in Flames garb) — though one guy was taking the Canuck jokes way too far and just wouldn’t shut up (see if you can spot him in the 6th picture from the bottom). We ended up ignoring him, though at one point he tried to remove the Canadian flag we brought along with us from Cam’s pocket. I should point out that the vast majority of the Lightning fans were respectful and fun to talk with, unlike that stupid git.
Yeah Calgary for winning it 3-2 in overtime — thankfully we skipped the crowds and were already on the road back home by then, listening in the car by radio. Calgary’s now up 3-2 in the series and could take it all on Saturday. Guess we’re gonna have to wait and see! 😀
