Pics from Heatstroke

So I was on the green team, and although we ended the day with a 1-3 record (hence the team holding up one finger in our group pic below), it was still a lot of fun. ๐Ÿ™‚

I didn’t get the honor of meeting everyone in these shots so they’re not captioned, but I think they pretty much speak for themselves.
A funny story for y’all: After the tourney finished, the directors handed out directions to the party, as well as menu of food that would be available. It was at “Tim & Terry’s: Music & More”. I gathered up the folks I was with, went back to our hotel, took a much-needed shower and drove off in search of the party. We were expecting was a restaurant with a place to sit down, perhaps some live music and beer. Instead, what we arrived to was a tiny little outdoor live-music performance stage behind a convenience store, and a half dozen or so folks whose party it definitely looked like we were crashing. There were tiki torches all around, and incense burned at each table. The band played downtempo, country/folk music. One guy, probably a regular, somewhat emphatically requested the band play Alanis after each track finished. After about 1/2 an hour of this, the band eventually broke down and played out a fine rendition of “One Hand In My Pocket”. We didn’t see anyone around who looked like they might be from the tournament, and there was nothing to indicate we were in the right spot, other than the name of the place was correct. We decided to stay, though, since (a) it was only an hour after the specified start time ๐Ÿ™‚ and (b) ’cause, quite frankly, I don’t know what’s where Gainesville. Slowly at first, and more quickly later, we saw nearly two dozen Ultimate-type folk arrive with the same looks of disbelief we had. Half of them decided to stick around, and the other half were probably too shocked to come near. ๐Ÿ™‚ We decided to stay, and it turned out to be a nice, low key night: the band was very competent and we ended up meeting a number of pretty cool folks too (hi Renee!). When we finally left, one of the regulars thanked us for showing up, so at least we weren’t intruding. ๐Ÿ˜€
