Well, O-Town for one ๐ This weekend Lickety Split went to Orlando in an attempt to be one of the three out of 16 teams in the nine-state South Region to continue on to the 2005 Club Championships (conveniently being held right here in Sarasota). We got destroyed (maybe I should have written that in CAPS), getting knocked out of the two day tournament after only three games, but that didn’t keep our team from winning the party (i.e. being the last ones standing Saturday night). I didn’t partake because I was already to worn out from the day and the festivites at the hotel — 13 of us were throwing a disc around the outdoor pool, I’m kinda surprised hotel security didn’t kick us out, though it could be because we included everyone at the pool in the game ๐ Hah. Goodtimes, goodtimes. Got up to an early start on Sunday and headed over to the fields to cheer Tampa men’s club team Bulge on. Whee!! So much fun to watch the game at that level. Gratuitous layouts everywhere, gigantic hucks, man. Excellent stuff if you’re a spectator. It was amazing to watch, everyone left themselves on the field that day.
Pictures from the festivities can be viewed here.
I’d like to share an email that arrived tonight, from my friend Daniel. Daniel tried to get me into Firefly two years ago. At the time, I thought the concept was ridiculous. I finally came around in June, and now I can’t get enough.

Subject: You must see this movie!
Hey guys,
I don’t know if you’ve seen (or even heard of) “Serenity” yet, but I aim to make you come around and see things my way. It’s the spawn of a great little cancelled TV called “Firefly” (all of 11 episodes on Fox) and it deserves to be seen. If you have, then, well, you know what I’m talking about. ๐
The premise? It’s a space western. The heroes fly around on their spaceship to dusty planets, carry six-shooters, and have a ship’s prostitute. If that doesn’t sound good I don’t know what does.
Anyway, brilliant DVD sales (you can buy the whole series–well worth it too, especially for $30-$40) convinced Universal to give Joss Whedon $40 million with which to continue his little space opera.
So if you haven’t seen the film yet (opened at #2 in the box office last weekend), you must see it soon, because the fate of the sequel is resting in the next five days. Need to see some trailers? Go to www.apple.com/trailers and look for Serenity. Or better yet, go to this Austrailian site (I believe) for the first nine minutes of the film: http://video.vividas.com/CDN1/3929_Serenity/web/index.html Then go out and see the movie. Twice. Bring all your friends. Heck, bring me. I’ve only seen it twice myself so far.
Thanks,
Dan
So, there you go. Someone else’s opinion ๐
Update: Oh yeah.. not to mention this: 50 Reasons You Should See “Serenity”
Finally, in other news, Cam and I played against each other tonight in the Manatee County Ultimate league, and my team won handily. But not before Cam put a full layout-two-handed-D-block on a throw of mine. Oof. That hurt. Nice work Cam.
