Curious? If ‘being armed’ is the ‘American Way’ … is this not a little hypocritical?? Whole “power to the people” slogan seems to have gone out the window.
Then again … I am “assuming” this is Iraq … honestly I need more context … but!

interesting choice of disposal method. i’m hoping they emptied all the cartridges first.
it’s reminiscent of the small oregon town who decided to blow up the beached whale as it was too big to drag back into the sea.
i saw this news broadcast when i was a child and have told the story many times, always wishing i had some sort of proof. part of me always thought i may have made it up (i did a lot of story telling as a child), but having been reminded of it here, i decided if it did happen, i could find it through google.

brian, i’m actually not sure where it is — i stole from a webpage a week or so ago and unfortunately it didn’t have attribution there.
mavis, yes, that’s a very good question. just a hunch, but i’m guessing they weren’t all bought for hunting.
suetoo, something tells me we’re in kansas anymore…
alison, haha… nice, those were my thoughts too. “This is the unloaded batch, right?” about the whale, yes, i’d seen that before. pretty odd, eh? do you think there’s any way they could have had a few big boats drag it out to sea instead?
Krishen: the reason for the 2nd amendment in the US isn’t guns for hunting. It’s so that the population will always remain an armed militia, more powerful together than any government that rules them. The point being that an armed citizenry can overthrow a cruel and unjust government. That was why all Us citizens have a right to bear arms: to scare the shit out of the government.
Isn’t it ironic that, now that the US has an unjust government, the US also has one of the most powerful and technologically superior armies in the world? So much for the 2nd.

The “red carpet” of the middle east
Why were those guns made at the first place is the question here, not why they are being destroyed!

alison that is weird.
the true road to non-violence is paved with methods of violence. (& understanding and other good stuff)
