Buff ‘n Stuff

Hey folks… well, it’s been an interesting past 5 days since I got back. Cam called me up 15 minutes after I got home, and I met him at the pool despite my better judgement (12 hrs flying + Krishen should = bed).
Other than that, life’s been a combination of work, sleep and procrastinating doing the dishes.
That ends tonight, however. I am now the proud owner of FOUR new dish cloths! Ain’t no pile-a flatware gon git inma way.
So I’ve been watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer — the TV series — for the past three weeks. Working mostly from the fact that my friend Daniel is a big fan (and he and I have similar tastes), I bought the entire fourth season on DVD a few weeks ago. It’s great! Funny thing is, he tried to show me a few episodes back when he bought it a couple years ago, I remember not being into it at all.
I can’t understand why. The show is freekin funny. The writing is spectacular. Zero fluff. Every seemingly innocent little detail weaves into the story being told either in the episode or the season. A joy to watch.
So last night I decided to rent the movie which started it all. Wow!! Everything I expected! Total cheese! Man, did the writing ever get better in the TV series. …Still, it wasn’t all bad – there were definite moments which separated it from the typical trash teen movies out there. In particular, a dream sequence where our protagonist lies down to go to bed and is blissfully unaware she’s embracing a demon instead of her teddy bear. Heh.
Also watched last night: Startup.com. I have lots to say about it, but that’s a topic for another post.
Anyhow, now it’s off to the pool to meet Cam again, then down to the Paddywagon to meet Eric and Sonia and watch the Canucks kick some Oiler booty! 🙂
