Louder than words

I’m back in Sarasota, safe and sound. The only excitement of the trip back came in Houston, while waiting to board the jet to Sarasota. What was the excitement? Well I almost waited the plane away. Note to self: even though you can hear other boarding calls inside the cafe, doesn’t mean you’re going to hear yours. Thankfully I got on the plane in time, as I was paying close attention to the time (and I was within “eyeshot” of the gate).
So yeah. I touched down in Sarasota at quarter to five local time, just a little over seven hours ago, and I’ve already managed to injure myself playing Ultimate. Note to self #2: do do a stretch before jumping.
I would like to mention that my website is going to be out of commission for a few days as the machine which serves davin.ws, a PowerMac G4, gets physically relocated to Vancouver from Victoria where it now resides, and the domain gets repointed. Everything should be back to normal by Wednesday, but if not, just keep hitting F5, I’m sure something interesting will happen, eventually.
Downtime for davin.ws also means my gallery from San Diego won’t be up for a little bit. But it’ll be worth it! Gots me some nize pitchers.
A couple things I’d like to point your attention to before I call it a night. I bought Rolling Stone magazine today for something to read on the plane, issue #960. Let me just say it’s a great issue. RS has always been kinda hit or miss for me, but this one’s a keeper. In addition to a big interview with Comedy Central’s king-wit Jon Stewart (which they’ve posted online), there’s also a very interesting writeup on Bob Dylan and his life/music, as well as R.E.M.’s lead singer Michael Stipe. And lots of other good stuff. Incidentally, I bought Jon’s book on Thursday, America (The book): A Citizen’s Guide to Democracy Inaction, and so far (I’ve read the forward, the overview, and part of the first chapter), it continues the Daily Show’s tradition of insight through biting satire. Excellent stuff. Finally, if you haven’t seen it yet, go check out the video for Sarah McLachlan‘s new single, World on Fire. All I can say is, wow. Nice work.

  1. yeah but how much did they pay JunkieXL to remix and do production work on that track? hahahaha! no mention there.. 😉

  2. Haha, good call! You should write for The Daily Show.
Speaking of of which… the article I linked to is only an excerpt. Which is too bad, it gives a lot of insight into Mr. Stewart and the show. I’m almost tempted to get standard cable so I can see it. And Southpark.
