• Jazzed

View of the crowd at the Shaggy show Saturday
The last time we spoke about it, I was heading to the New Orleans Jazz Festival. As it turns out it’s actually the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival — and it included a lot more than just jazz; aboriginal, flamenco, reggae and traditional folk music had a strong showing too.
Lots more on that to come. Right now though, I’m in full on whirlwind trip recovery mode. Done since I got back at 2pm: initial picture processing, paid rent, cleared the fridge, took out the trash, got the mail, unpacked, did the laundry, bought house supplies and got some dinner. And now I’m about to sit back and enjoy a movie (a recommendation by Emily). That is all!

  • “Techno” night at local pub

Wow, what can I say? It’s a red letter day. I found a tiny little bar with a weekly “techno” night, just a few minutes from my house! Crazy! Sarasota has now officially graduated from “town” to “city”. In my head anyhow. It was Florida breakbeat with some regular breaks thrown in there for good measure. Not bad! According to the bar staff, the night has been going on for a month and a half, and has had moderate attendance. Woo! Hmm, it’s definitely not coming through in the writing, but just trust me when I say this makes me really happy. Yeah!
