• Sunday Madness!

I learned two things today: The local NFL team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, have a pretty strong offensive lineup, and two, god-damn am I ever out of shape.
Eric picked me up about noon today, and we headed down to FinDaddy’s — a strip-mall sports bar just down the road from my place. Football really seems to draw a crowd here. We ordered quesadillas and 20 supposed-to-be-hot-but-weren’t wings, and a pitcher of cold ones. Yum! It was 31-6 Tampa Bay when we left. We were gonna be late for Ultimate. Priorities, y’know.
About me and being in shape! Well, after a quick stop back at the Krib — er, my place — for some water, we were back on the road and driving to New College. I played the entire two hours without sitting out for a break.. and let me tell you, for the first 20 minutes I felt like my heart was going to explode!!! Then it got better.
See, before I started playing, I figured my legs would be tired, or my arms from all that throwing? No. It was my chest, the heart/lung area, that was hurting like a mofo. Holy cow. Guess that no-exercise thing didn’t help me out after all! After scrimmaging for about an hour, we made up teams and played a game to four. (Games in this sport are normally played to 13 or 15 points; light was getting a little short.) My team lost 4-1, so we played another game to two. At the start of the game, I yelled across the field, “Prepare to lose!”. We lost 2-0. Played another game to two. Lost 2 zip. Played another and KICKED THEIR BUTTS 2-0. Awww yeah.

I’ve never followed politics very closely, but this is just too much. The current premier of the province I grew up in was arrested and jailed early yesterday morning for drunk driving. The CBC News said he had a BAC of > 0.08. I’ll say. Look at that goofy grin. He must have been totally plastered.
update, 11:01pm: My friend Chrissie’s also written a bit about this topic over on her blog. Very worth reading.

  • Trance May Be Hazardous To Your Health

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything audible — thought I’d share a couple of songs that you shouldn’t drive to.
“Come into my Dream” is a classic 1999 trance choon. Short but great!
“Sunrise” is a fantastic track. Not sure how I’d classify this one except as hard and trancelicious. I’m sure you could throw the word “progressive” in there somewhere too. 😀
